Classes Taught

I have been dabbling in canine scent sports since 2016 because I believe they are a great outlet for dogs who need enrichment, confidence, and a little more working space.

I have competed in USCSS, NACSW, and most recently in AKC scent sports, and have learned to value the lessons learned as much as the ribbons earned.

In my quest to put a dog’s nose to good use, I am also a member of Southwest Search Dogs (a nonprofit search and rescue organization that uses canines to help police departments search for missing persons).

Generally, my training style is lazy; manage what can be managed, and focus on the skills needed for the job. I'm slowly learning that incorporating the dog's feelings into the learning equation leads to better outcomes. And I firmly believe that you get the dog you need (not the one you want), each one teaches you something new, and it's important to work with the dog you have in front of you today.
