Dawn Porter

I’ve always had dogs. Mostly the pointy ear kind, but I love all dogs regardless of their ear shape. Four years ago, I got my first puppy and I vowed to do “everything right” and that’s what led us to dog sports. I wanted to expose my guy to as many different activities, environments, and situations as possible to make sure he was happy, healthy, well-behaved, and to find things we both really enjoyed doing together.

Fast forward to last summer when I joined the San Diego Dog Sports Club and immediately fell in love with the community and mission. Today, I compete in Scent Work with my GSD, Rowan. and we're hooked. Beyond dog sports, I've spent years in organizational leadership and volunteering with a local dog rescue, so I'm excited to bring those skills to the Board.

When not doing dog things, I enjoy spending time outside with my husband camping, hiking, mountain biking. We live in Valley Center with our two GSDs, five cats and too many chickens to count.
